As you will have seen in the press and media this is a challenging time for all businesses during COVID-19. We have been working closely with our contractors to ensure that a safe return to services is achievable as soon as practically possible.
During the last few weeks, The Asset Management Team have been in communication with our contractors to ensure there is a safe return to site.
We have received detailed risk assessments and method statements from our contractor Ledgerwoods Electrical Ltd, and are pleased to inform that they will be commencing on essential works with an expectation to increase and return to full service as soon as the Scottish Government deems it safe to do so.
Following the tragedy at Grenfell Towers in June 2017, the Scottish Government announced an amendment to the Housing Scotland Act, requiring all social landlords to carry out specific electrical upgrades ensuring adequate fire safety in all their properties to meet the new legislation before February 2021. This work is essential to ensure the continuing safety of our tenants. Our contractor, Ledgerwoods will look to carry out a survey of properties and carry out any necessary work to meet the new standards. This work will take no longer than two hours to complete.
We appreciate that households may be shielding or isolating during the Covid-19 outbreak, and we will ensure our contractors take adequate measures to ensure that tenants are not at risk.
